1st December 2008 -
World Premiere - ‘Proverbs’ on Radio Latvia.

The world premiere of Ciarán Farrell’s new work for piano, ‘Proverbs’, will take place on the 19th of December 2008 on Radio Latvia 3 at 22:15 Latvian time, (20:15 Irish time). The five movement work, which was commissioned by American patron Tom Ayers to accompany paintings also commissioned for the project, are reflections/meditations on biblical proverbs and were recorded by Irish pianist Darina Gibson for the event.

This broadcast follows on from a recent programme that featured the work of Irish composers, for which Ciarán already gave a short interview by phone to presenter/producer Sandra Nedzvecka, and this will be the first time ‘Proverbs’ will be heard by the general public. Ciarán recently traveled to the Latvian capital Riga to meet with Sandra Nedzvecka in person where he gave an in house interview to talk about the new work and his life as a composer in Dublin where he presently resides.

If you miss the broadcast on the 19th you can hear the programme online thereafter by going to the Latvijas Radio Archive and clicking on the link for December 2008. Then under the ‘Latvijas Radio 3 – Klasika’ heading pick the appropriate date where a full list of the days programmes will be listed for online listening.
